Biography

A German operatic tenor and composer, a native of Hamburg. He began his vocal training at the age of 22 under the guidance of his mother, the dramatic soprano Renate Behle. He graduated from the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, having studied voice, trombone, and composition.

He made his debut in 2004 at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, and subsequently served as a principal soloist at the Vienna Volksoper and the Oper Frankfurt. He performs regularly on all the world's leading stages, including the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Zurich Opera House, Dutch National Opera, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Paris Opera, the Theater an der Wien, the Bayreuth Festival, the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, and the Salzburg Easter Festival.

His operatic repertoire includes such roles as Lohengrin ("Lohengrin"), Loge ("Das Rheingold"), David ("Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg"), Max ("Der Freischütz"), Tamino ("Die Zauberflöte"), Ferrando ("Così fan tutte"), Belmonte ("Die Entführung aus dem Serail"), Tito ("La clemenza di Tito"), the King's Son ("Königskinder" by E. Humperdinck), and Flamand ("Capriccio").

He also possesses an extensive concert repertoire: lieder by R. Schumann, F. Schubert, and J. Brahms; the "Christmas Oratorio" and "St. John Passion" by J.S. Bach; "The Seasons" by J. Haydn; Symphony No. 2 by F. Mendelssohn; and the "Missa Solemnis" and Symphony No. 9 by L. van Beethoven.

A laureate of several international competitions, he has recorded over 15 solo albums, many of which are catalogued in the German National Library. He is the composer of several song cycles, works for brass ensemble, as well as the operetta "Hop and Malt" ("Hopfen und Malz"), which premiered in 2023 in Annaberg-Buchholz.
