Born in Sevastopol. He studied at the G.V. Ledyakh Moscow School of Classical Dance (teacher Boris Rakhmanin), and then, after participating in the Prix de Lausanne competition, was invited to the ballet school of the Hamburg State Opera (teacher Radik Zaripov). 

Since 2003, he has been a member of the Hamburg State Opera company; since 2010, a principal dancer with the company. He also works as a choreographer. 

In 2007, he was awarded the Wilhelm Oberdorfer Prize for outstanding achievements in classical dance.
